POST GRADUATE TEACHING DEPARTMENT

 

The Post Graduate Teaching Department is yet another jewel in the crown of S. P. College of Law. The college has become one of the few institutions in the State of Maharashtra which could impart both Graduate and Post Graduate in Law. The Government of Maharashtra and Nagpur University, Nagpur has conferred a rare Privilege on the college by permitting it to start Post Graduate Studies and Research in Law in the year 1990. At present the PGTD offers Master Degree Course in Law, Human Rights, Labour Studies and a wide range of P. G. Diploma Courses has been actively assisting and helping the students and staffs in pursuing research activities. From 2012-13 onwards first year of all Master Courses and One Year Diploma Courses is being run by Gondwana University.

 

Eligibility Criteria & Admission Process for

LL.M. Ist Semester to IVth Semester (2 Year) (Credit Based System)

 

Eligibility  :  Notwithstanding anything contained in any direction/ordinance for the time being in force; a student desiring to seek admission to LL.M. Program, may either register himself / herself as  a regular student in any of the institution established , conducted or affiliated to the Gondwana University, Gadchiroli.

An applicant for admission to LL.M programme should have obtained Bachelors Degree in Law (LL.B.) or any other equivalent qualification, called by any name, which is recognized by the Gondwana University, Gadchiroli.

 

 

Admission Process  :

1.  Issue of Admission Forms :  From 1st June.

2.  Admission up to first Monday of August or any date fixed by Gondwana University and 15 days period from the declaration of result of law examinations of Gondwana University.

3.  Admission will be made by the Admission Committee and with due approval from the Principal.

4.  Approved Admission forms will be accepted for admission along with fees mentioned in fees schedule during office hours.

5.  Admission form is available on website which can be downloaded. However, while submitting the application form the candidate is expected to enclose DD for Rs. 250/- drawn in favor of the Principal, S. P. College of Law, Chandrapur towards the cost of Prospectus, Application Form and Perspective of the College. The Prospectus & Perspectives can be collected from the office later.

6.  Office working hours - 10.00 am to 5.30 pm.

 

Documents required for admission to LL.M. Ist Semester (2 Year)

1.  Original School/College Leaving Certificate. (School/College last attended)

2.  Photocopies of Marklist of Qualifying Examination / Previous years.

3.  Caste Certificate (Attested true copy)

4.  Validity Certificate (Attested true copy)

5.  Domicile Certificate (Attested true copy)

6.  Two Passport size photographs.

7.  Eligibility Certificate and Migration Certificate for students belonging to other Universities.

8.  Examination form duly filled along with copies of mark sheets of qualifying exams.

9.  Two self addressed envelopes.

 

Admission and Promotion Rules for LL.M. 2 Year Course

(a)  For Promotion to SECOND Semester : A student admitted to the FIRST semester and appeared for atleast one theory paper in the FIRST semester, shall be allowed to be promoted to the SECOND semester

(b)  For Promotion to THIRD Semester : The student should have passed in atleast 40%  of the Papers/subjects/courses of the First Semester and atleast 40% papers of the second semester shall be allowed to be promoted to THIRD Semester.

 (c)  For Promotion to FOURTH Semester : A student admitted to the THIRD semester and who appeared for atleast one theory paper in the THIRD Semester shall be allowed to be promoted to the FOURTH semester.

 

Semesterised LL.M. Course

 

In LL.M Course (Credit Bass Semester System), there are Eight Courses as Foundation Courses, which are compulsory for all. There are Seven specialization groups, which are optional. They are :

1.  Group A - International Law

2.  Group B - Constitutional Law & Administrative Law

3.  Group C - Intellectual Property Laws

4.  Group D - Business Law

5.  Group E - Environment and Legal Order

6.  Group F - Labour, Capital and Law

7.  Group G - Criminal Law

Candidates have to select any one group of specialization which has six courses / papers. Candidates who have selected group of specialization at the time of admission shall not be allowed to change the group of specialization subsequently.  The candidates will have to prosecute regular full time course of study. In each of the group 25 students will be admitted on merit in the P.G. Department of law and in affiliated colleges.
